Public Transport Amsterdam
Public Transport
Public transport in Amsterdam is among the best in Europe thanks to the constant availability, simplicity, efficiency and punctuality of the services.
TRAMS
Trams operate at regular intervals throughout the entire city center and the outskirts from 6.0am until around 12.30am. You will have to wait no longer than 10 minutes at the tram-stop. You can travel anywhere in the city centre for one hour on any tram for 2.60 Euro. Special daily cards and cards which can last for the duration of your visit can also be purchased from newsagents and supermarkets throughout the city.
TRAIN
The service provided by the Dutch Railway Board is exceptional and all trains will leave at regular intervals on time.
BICYCLES
You'll notice almost immediately, that there is an incredible number of bicycles in Amsterdam. Renting a bike is a great way to see the city and we thoroughly recommend Mike s Bike Tours for both tours and rental. They can be contacted at 020-6227970
TAXI
The recent Governmental decision to liberalize taxis has had its advantages and disadvantages. On the positive side, there are twice as many taxis on the streets, but many of them charge too much. We have always found TCA to be reliable and they can be contacted at 020-6777777. A novel taxi trip can be enjoyed on one of the city's many bicycle taxi's and the price is also fair and the drivers are usually polite.
